Hoping to get this answered before the RI DoR opens on Tuesday. Do businesses located in Rhode Island need to file a copy of the 1099s and 1096 with the state? Most states I work on do not require filing 1099s but never worked on RI before.

Not the 1096 but a copy in the 1099's require you to submit them for any taxable state. Any income earned in RI is taxable, so it never hurts to submit a 1099 to them for any persons earning income in that state
